Last night me and Matt went to watch Norway v Iceland in a Euro 2012 qualifier. It was my first trip to Oslo's Ullevål Stadion. We started off at the Billabong Café in Majorstuen then took the T-Bane to the ground.
The atmosphere was pretty good with punk music and free programmes unexpected highlights!
Considering we got some of the last seats available they were pretty good, on the end of a row just behind the goal in the Bendit part of the stadium.
The match itself was pretty poor, Norway dominated but Iceland defended in numbers making it hard for the home side to carve out chances.
Norway won 1-0 thanks to John Carew “making the most” of a challenge in the area to win a penalty which Mohammed Abdellaoue slammed home. HEIA NORGE!
The win gives Norway a great chance of qualifying for Euro 2012, much now depends on Tuesday's Scandinavian derby away in Denmark.
The atmosphere inside the stadium was actually quite similar to an England international, but with a little less cynicism! There were high numbers of women and kids, free flags on every seat and hey I even started learning the words to “Alt for Norge“!
